Friday

Back in Brooklyn, but quite busy today between running into the city for the happy phenomenon that is the free between cut bang trim, and a Larch rehearsal tonight for tomorrow's show. There is a lot going on however. Here's a copy of the mailing list e-mail I sent out today that re-caps it all. If you're not on the mailing list and would like to be, just look at the upper right corner of the screen... Vote Music! Hey Wheelers, A rare follow up e-mail to last week's message with four important pieces of late-breaking news: 1) TODAY, August 18th is the last day to register to vote (if you aren't already) in the NY primary election Sept. 12 which will be important in determining local Brooklyn issues including the Ratner arena/land-grab in downtown Brooklyn, and the Democratic candidate for NY Governor. Conveniently you can now do this important task online: http://www.vote.nyc.ny.us/register.html 2) Thanks to Alan and the TRIFECTAgram for making TOMORROW'S Larch show one of his picks: "Sat Aug 19: The Larch - just back from their UK tour - plays the new Living Room Lounge, 23rd St. and 5th Ave in PARK SLOPE, not Manhattan, 8PM sharp. Fiery British pub-punk-rock with a sense of humor and spectacularly good lead guitar." I play keys and sing harmony with The Larch (http://www.myspace/dentresistant). The full line-up includes RebelMart at 7 and The Saudi Agenda at 9. 3) I'm very excited to have been asked up to Great Barrington, Massachusetts to play Songwriters in Mixed Company! This monthly event showcases eclectic songwriters from all over the Northeast. Last month they featured four Falcon Ridge Folk Festival performers. I'll be playing solo-acoustic and in-the-round with Laurece West and Robert Oakes (http://www.robertoakes.com) THURSDAY, AUGUST 24 8pm - $10 Mixed Company Theater 37 Rossetter St. Great Barrington, MA http://www.songwritersmix.com (413) 232-8501 4) As many of you know, I'm the host of the new Brooklyn TV talk show Freddy's Brooklyn Roundhouse. I get to talk politics and interview a range of people - local politicians, activists and artists/musicians. The Web site - http://www.freddysbrooklynroundhouse.org - has been updated, and two new shows will be airing this weekend: *Tonight, Friday 8/18 at midnight is the episode where I interview Bill Batson, candidate for State Assembly, 57th district, a man I found to be a very interesting and passionate political thinker who is also (of course!) vehemently opposed to the Atlantic Yards eminent domain abuse Ratner/Nets/skyscraper proposal. - Time Warner ch 56 - Cablevision ch 69 - Internet live stream http://www.bcat.tv/bcat/default.asp - scroll to middle of page and click watch BCAT live - Ch 3. *Tomorrow, Saturday 8/19 at 5pm is the episode focused on last month's Develop Don't Destroy Brooklyn rally at Grand Army Plaza with more Bill Batson and State Senator Velmanette Montgomery, City Councilmember Letitia James and me interviewing Dan Zanes and Charles Barron. - Time Warner ch 35 - Cablevision 68 - Internet live stream same as above but on BCAT Ch 2. September finds Liza & the WonderWheels back in full-band action starting with Psychedelic night at Freddy's on Saturday, Sept. 16th. Rock the Vote! -Liza. http://www.lizasongs.com
